Pick up shots from last weekend

By Shaun

August 9th, 2010

Lei and I went to Livermore last weekend to get some inserts for the film. We didn’t have access to the inside of the wind farm area, but we managed to get a few interesting shots from the distance. At some point, I’d like to go back up to the original shooting location to get a few more shots.

June 22nd, 2010

Here’re some screen grabs from the livermore shoot last months. These screenshots are straight from RedAlert with 1 light correction. They look good at this point. The final grading of the film will be completed on AutoDesk Lustre system. More screen grabs will come in near future.

Stroller Model

By Shaun

June 21st, 2010

My post team has sent me two renderings of the stroller we used in the shoot. It looks pretty cool just as the real one. We used a real Stokke Stroller for the shoot. Now we need a 3D CGI model of the exact same stroller for a few VFX shots we’re currently working on. Since the CGI stroller will only appear in the distance shots, it doesn’t need to be highly detailed.

Poseidon design finalized

By Shaun

June 7th, 2010

Here’re some renders for the EOS Poseidon. The design has been finalized. Texture and lighting will follow. The model is highly detailed. My only concern is the amount of rendering power shot 19 requires. We may have to do some test to find out if there’s a way to cheat polygons.

Post progess continued…

OK, one of the most important shot in the spaceship interior scene is the communication hologram. In the original shot, there’s only a take off/landing schedule chalk board for USS hornet. In the post we’re changing it to a fully interactive hologram. Tracking, compositing and motion graphic design are the three main tasks of this shot. After about 1 month of hard work, our team is getting close to get the results we want. Here’s a screen grab. What you see here is about 60% completion of the final look. More detailed tracking and color correction will come later.
